Psalm 100 (Thanksgiving)

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!

Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.

Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.

A short psalm, but one dedicated entirely to giving thanks to the Lord. I considered putting the whole thing in my Thanksgiving post, but decided it needed one of its own.

Christians, we have much to be thankful as we sail into the holiday season. Remember your beautiful families, your friends, and that God is good.

This year has been a rough road to travel, but God is still good.

Put aside politics for now.

Carve up some turkey and feast on pumpkin pie.

But also don’t forget all the good things in your life you have to be thankful for.

And if you feel as if you don’t have anything “good” in your life to be thankful for, then consider this: there’s people out there who, even though they don’t know you or never met you, have prayed for you. These strangers wish you well and hope for good things in your life.

They’re all around the world.

It would do us all good to pray for those whose hearts are broken or are filled with loneliness on this holiday season. Or for those who don’t have God in their lives yet.

Let us all do something to ensure everyone has something to be thankful for.

Amen.
